Microsoft Inspire Conference

This is always a very exciting time of year for Mexia as we are honoured to attend the Microsoft Inspire conference. Having been named 2017 Microsoft Australia Partner of the Year, as well as receiving prior nominations, these awards hold a special place in our heart.

This year, during the Inspire corenote speeches, Mexia was humbled to be the only Australian Microsoft Partner given the opportunity to be profiled by Judson Althoff (VP of Microsoft Commercial - Globally) about our Digital Health Integration Platform Solution which contributed to our 2017 Partner of the Year (POTY) award, and delivered on our promise to provide world class integration for all of our customers.

Meeting customer integration needs

Bendigo Health’s vision was to enable a whole-of-hospital information view of each patient through a single Electronic Medical Record (EMR), providing clinicians, nursing staff, patients and allied health providers real-time access to live-saving information.

Delivering enterprise integration platforms based on Microsoft Azure

Mexia partnered with Bendigo Health in 2016 and delivered a Microsoft Azure-based EMR integration backbone within 6 months using both Azure Paas and IaaS - a first for the Australian tertiary health sector both for cost-effectiveness and delivery velocity compared to other vendors.

In January 2017, a new $630M Bendigo Hospital became the most advanced digital hospital in Asia Pacific and the most successful health IT launch in Australian history after a landmark transformational project for Microsoft Australia and Mexia.

By consolidating five legacy on-premises integration platforms into one modern Azure-hosted platform, over 40 clinical (HL7) and non-clinical interfaces can now be monitored, providing unparalleled visibility into the health of the hospitals digital backbone.

Patients can now use their bedside entertainment system to change their meal preferences and provide critical information about food allergies that the kitchen needs to know; nurses can record patient observations into their mobile nursing app whilst walking between beds; and doctors can see the results of imaging scans even before the patient has been returned to the ward.
