Mexia ranked #8 best workplace under 100 employees in Australia!! And we’re STILL hiring!!!

30 August, 2017 by Mexia

We did it! We debuted at #10 last year and always had big ambitions – and we are thrilled with our #8 spot in the 2017 Best Places to Work Study! There was some really tough competition in our category this year, so to be recognised among this group of people-focused organisations is an incredible honour. We’re thrilled but we are also humbled.

The widely acclaimed Best Places to Work study is run annually by Great Place to Work Australia, part of a global research and consulting firm specialising in workplace excellence and development of high-trust and high-engagement cultures. Our entire team was anonymously surveyed – we asked for absolute honesty! – and we completed a 30-page submission to allow the judges to rank us on a set of very comprehensive criteria.

And the results came in last night! Did we mention that we are number #8? See more photos here as we post them over the coming days.

Why this is so important to us

To know that 100% of our team – every single survey respondent – believes that there is a ‘family’ or ‘team’ feeling, and that ‘we are all in this together’, is an amazing feeling.

And like with most great achievements, this one is a result of a focused, long-term effort. Creating a culture that attracts the best and brightest minds is a key strategic objective for our business. It’s what makes Mexia great for our customers, our team and our investors.

“To be placed #8 in our category at this year’s Best Places to Work Study is an awesome result. We invest a lot of love and energy into making Mexia a place where talented people want to come to work. We rely on milestones like this to see how we're doing and learn from the winners about what we can do better” says Dean Robertson, Chief Executive at Mexia.

So what makes Mexia one of the best places to work in Australia?

It starts – and ends! - with our champion team. We’re located in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne and work together across functions and locations to #makeithappen. We love nothing more than celebrating – birthdays, life events and team achievements. Ours is a culture of support and autonomy, and we place a big emphasis on saying ‘Thanks!’. Then there’s our famous Christmas parties. More on all of that here.

“The fact is, it’s very tight in the top 10. Our team is telling us we are doing all the right things so now it’s all about being consistent, about ensuring that the culture we created is part of our DNA. This year’s result confirms we are on the right track!”, says Dean.

And so, in true Mexia style, we want to say a big THANK YOU -  to our Executive Team, Practice Leads and our growing number of Mexia Unicorns, for living our values each and every day and making our vision a reality. This award is a recognition of your combined contributions!

Will you be a part of the celebrations this time next year?

We are always looking for that rare breed of person – a Mexia Unicorn if you like. In addition to exceptional technical and/or business skills, Unicorns have a thirst for lifelong learning and display our values of excellence, passion, intellect, a strong work ethic. They’re also generally fun to have around!

If you think you have what it takes, we want to hear from you! So why not tell us you exist, and tell us you’re interested in working at Mexia? In return we’ll let you know before the rest of the world about upcoming roles that might suit you so you have an opportunity to apply early.
